Eugenia "Jean" Orlando

NOVEMBER 19, 1931 – AUGUST 11, 2019

Eugenia “Jean” Ann Orlando passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on August 11, 2019.

She was born on November 19, 1931, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Gennaro and Serafina (Morrone) DeRosa. After graduating from Johnstown High School in 1949, she moved to Lansing, Michigan, where she married Francesco “Frank” Orlando on July 11, 1953.

Along with her brother Valentino DeRosa and her husband, Jean owned several businesses in the Lansing area, including Mason Foodland and FunTyme Adventure Parks.

As a devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. James Parish and took many religious pilgrimages to Italy, the Holy Land, Spain, Croatia, and France. She loved socializing through her involvement in numerous clubs and organizations. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends, and her legacy will live on through the countless recipes she passed down to them.

She is survived by her children: Gregory (Anna) Orlando, Annette (Harry) Stampler, Anthony (Gina) Orlando, Paul Orlando, and Valentino Orlando; 15 grandchildren: Francis, Matthew (Shannon), Jennifer (Tom), Andrew, Michelle, Jonathan, Emily, Olivia, Giorgio, Valentino, and Lucas Orlando, and Tyler (Kayli), Jordan, Brianna, and Christian Stampler; and two great-grandchildren: Aiden Orlando and Brooks Stampler, in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her brothers, Tony (Ida) DeRosa and Valentino DeRosa.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing St., Mason, MI 48854, with Father Kusitino Cobona officiating. A 9 a.m. visitation will precede it. On Friday, August 16, at St. James Catholic Church, a visitation will be held at 5 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Please continue to check the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes website for updates and to leave condolences.
